Prescription Medication Policy
About Simplyweight and The London Obesity Clinic
Simplyweight owns and runs clinics as part of its services. All medical consultations and online weight loss prescriptions are operated by Simplyweight’s The London Obesity Clinic, a specialist weight management clinic registered in the United Kingdom. References to “Simplyweight”, “The London Obesity Clinic”, “we”, “us”, or “our” throughout this policy refer to this organisation and its associated team.
About this policy
This policy applies to all patients who receive a prescription for weight loss medication through Simplyweight or The London Obesity Clinic, regardless of how they came to us. This includes patients who completed an online consultation form, patients who attended a clinical consultation directly before being prescribed, and patients receiving repeat or follow-up prescriptions.
By proceeding with a prescription — whether by ticking agreement on an online consultation form, verbally confirming during a clinical consultation, or accepting a repeat prescription — you confirm that you have read and understood this policy in full. This policy forms part of your agreement with Simplyweight / The London Obesity Clinic each time a prescription is issued to you. It is your responsibility to review the current version of this policy before each consultation or order, as it may be updated from time to time in accordance with section 11.
If you have any questions about this policy before proceeding, please contact us at [email protected] or 0207 299 0388.
- Prescribing and Pharmacy
1.1 Scope of this policy
This policy applies to all prescription weight loss medications dispensed through Simplyweight / The London Obesity Clinic. This currently includes Wegovy (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide). Where other weight loss medications are made available in future, this policy will apply to those too unless a separate policy is published. Any references to a specific medication throughout this document apply equally to all medications covered by this policy unless stated otherwise.
1.2 Who prescribes your medication
Your medication will be prescribed by a doctor registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and dispensed by a pharmacy registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Both are listed on The London Obesity Clinic website. By accepting this policy you agree that your medication is prescribed and dispensed through these registered providers only.
1.3 Prescription Only Medication
All weight loss medications supplied through Simplyweight are Prescription Only Medicines (POMs). They may only be supplied following a clinical assessment by a qualified prescriber. You must not obtain the same medication from any other provider at the same time. Doing so could be dangerous and may result in your treatment being discontinued.
1.4 Identity verification
Before your prescription can be issued, our team will carry out internal verification checks to confirm your identity. You will be asked to email a copy of your photo ID (driving licence or passport) to [email protected] after submitting your consultation form. All four corners of the document must be visible and all text and images must be clear. This is required for fraud prevention and regulatory compliance only and your ID will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
1.5 Sole use
The medication prescribed to you is for your personal use only. You must not share, transfer, or allow another person to use your medication under any circumstances. Prescriptions are issued on the basis of your individual clinical assessment and are not appropriate or safe for any other person.
- Pricing and Payment
2.1 Payment hold
When you submit your consultation form, a payment hold (pre-authorisation) is placed on your card. This is not a charge. Payment is only taken if the prescribing doctor approves your consultation. If your consultation is declined, the hold is released and no charge is made.
2.2 Prices subject to change
Medication prices are set by the dispensing pharmacy and are subject to change at any time, including due to supply fluctuations, manufacturer pricing changes, or currency movements. You will always be shown the current price at the time your order is placed and you will not be charged more than the price confirmed at that point.
2.3 No refund once ordered
After payment is taken and your order is placed with the pharmacy, your medication cannot be returned or refunded. This applies even if you change your mind, experience side effects, or do not achieve your desired weight loss results. This is a legal and regulatory requirement for Prescription Only Medicines. By placing your order you confirm you have made a conscious and informed decision to proceed, understanding that results cannot be guaranteed and that side effects may occur.
2.4 Faulty or recalled products
The no-refund policy does not apply to products subject to a manufacturer recall or products you believe to be faulty or damaged on receipt. In these cases, please contact us immediately at [email protected] or 0207 299 0388. Do not use any medication you believe to be faulty.
2.5 Pharmacy payment emails
Following dispatch of your medication, you may receive an automated payment-related email directly from the pharmacy. This is a standard automated communication from the pharmacy’s system and can be disregarded unless you have a specific concern about your payment.
- Delivery
3.1 Dispatch times
We aim to dispatch all medications within 1–5 working days of receiving payment, subject to pharmacy stock availability, courier or Royal Mail disruptions, and other factors outside our control. Where your medication is out of stock, the pharmacy will notify you directly and will typically dispatch the following working day once stock is available. We will notify you if there is any other known delay.
3.2 Delivery days
Deliveries are made Tuesday to Friday only. We cannot guarantee a specific delivery time window within those days.
3.3 Expected delivery
In most cases, once dispatched, delivery is expected the following working day. This is subject to courier capacity, postal strikes, and weather disruption and cannot be guaranteed.
3.4 Delivery time slots
If you receive a time slot notification from the courier (for example from Royal Mail or DPD), this is a guideline only and not a guaranteed or strict delivery window. You or another person must be available to accept the delivery at any point throughout the full day of the expected delivery date, not only within the indicated time slot.
3.5 Your responsibility for receipt
It is your responsibility to ensure that you or another person is available to accept the delivery once your order has been placed. Damaged, worn, or marked outer packaging does not indicate that the medication inside has been compromised and is not grounds for refusing a delivery. If the outer packaging appears damaged on arrival, you must accept the delivery, inspect the contents, and contact us immediately with photographic or video evidence showing the outer packaging and the medication inside. Simplyweight does not accept liability, financial or otherwise, for any missed deliveries due to the recipient not being available when delivery is attempted, or due to delivery being refused by the recipient or any other person at the delivery address, regardless of the reason given. Simplyweight does not accept liability for failure to collect the medication in time, or for not rearranging a failed delivery quickly enough to avoid the medication being compromised. No replacement or refund will be issued in any of these circumstances.
3.6 Non-delivery or courier error
If your medication is not delivered on the expected delivery date, or if there has been an error on the part of the delivery provider, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. All non-delivery queries must be raised by no later than 6pm on the day of the expected delivery. Queries raised after this point may limit our ability to investigate or resolve the issue.
3.7 Storage on receipt
Your medication must be refrigerated immediately upon receipt. The temperature-controlled packaging provided by the pharmacy is designed to keep the medication within safe temperature limits for up to 48 hours from dispatch. It is your responsibility to ensure the medication is received and placed in the fridge within this window. Simplyweight will not be liable for medication that has been compromised due to delayed receipt or failure to refrigerate promptly.
3.8 Faulty injection pens
If you believe your injection pen is faulty or damaged, do not use or dispose of it. You must contact us within 24 hours of receipt and provide clear photographic or video evidence showing: (a) the outer packaging as received; (b) the pen itself, including any visible defect; and (c) the pen lot number and expiry date label. The pharmacy requires this evidence before any refund or replacement can be considered. No replacement or refund will be issued where the pen has been disposed of prior to investigation, or where damage cannot be evidenced within this timeframe. Damage or wear to outer packaging alone, without evidence of damage to the pen itself, does not qualify for a replacement or refund. Where evidence is submitted and investigated by the pharmacy and the pen is found to be functional and undamaged, the pharmacy’s determination is final and no refund or replacement will be issued. This applies whether the issue was the result of a misunderstanding or user error.
3.9 What is included with your delivery
UK-wide tracked delivery is included with your medication. A sharps bin is also included for the safe disposal of used injection pens.
- How to Use Your Medication
Before using your medication for the first time, please read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) supplied with your medication and all manufacturer guidance. - Clinical Obligations
5.1 Accuracy of information
The prescribing doctor bases their decision entirely on the information you provide in your consultation form. It is your responsibility to answer all questions accurately and truthfully. Providing incorrect or incomplete information can be hazardous to your health and may result in an inappropriate prescription being issued. If your health circumstances change after submission but before your prescription is issued, please contact us immediately.
5.2 Informing your clinical team
You must inform your Simplyweight clinical team of any new health conditions, changes to your medical history, new medications (prescribed or over the counter), or side effects you experience during treatment. Keeping us informed allows the prescribing doctor to make safe decisions about your ongoing care.
5.3 Pregnancy and contraception
GLP-1 weight loss medications are not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant during treatment you must stop taking the medication immediately and contact your Simplyweight clinical team and your own GP or midwife. The manufacturer advises that women of childbearing potential use effective contraception during treatment and for at least two months after stopping.
Oral contraceptive pills may be less effective during treatment due to gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhoea or vomiting. An additional method of contraception is recommended throughout treatment.
5.4 Side effects and emergencies
GLP-1 weight loss medications have known side effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, and others listed in the Patient Information Leaflet provided with your medication. Please read the Patient Information Leaflet in full before starting treatment. In the event of serious side effects — including severe abdominal pain, signs of pancreatitis, allergic reaction, or any other emergency — seek immediate help from your nearest emergency service (999 in the UK). DO NOT wait to contact Simplyweight first.
5.5 Hydration
Gastrointestinal side effects can increase your risk of dehydration. You must maintain adequate fluid intake throughout treatment. A minimum of 2 litres of water per day is recommended. Seek medical advice promptly if you experience symptoms of dehydration including dizziness, dark urine, or confusion.
5.6 Prior lifestyle changes
Weight loss medication is prescribed on the basis that you have already attempted to lose weight through diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. This medication must be taken alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is not a standalone treatment and prescribing is conditional on this being the case.
5.7 Discontinuation rule
If you have not lost at least 5% of your initial body weight within 12 weeks of reaching the licensed maintenance dose, treatment should be discontinued. Your clinical team will review this at follow-up and advise accordingly. Continuing treatment beyond this point is not clinically supported and will not be prescribed.
5.8 Follow-up and dosage adjustments
Follow-up prescriptions are issued at the discretion of the prescribing doctor. The doctor may increase, maintain, or reduce your dose based on your progress, tolerability, and clinical assessment. Treatment continuation is not guaranteed and is always subject to clinical review.
- Patient Support
6.1 Specialist-led live sessions
As a Simplyweight medication patient, you are invited to attend regular online sessions with our specialist, including live Q&A via chat. These sessions are provided as a complimentary educational service and are subject to the availability of the specialist.
These live sessions are for general educational and informational purposes only. They do not constitute personalised medical advice. Questions answered during the live Q&A are selected at our team’s discretion and will be addressed in a general context only — personal or sensitive medical queries will not be discussed in this setting. If you have concerns specific to your health or treatment, please contact us to arrange an individual consultation.
6.2 Educational resources
Medication patients are provided with educational resources and email content to support their treatment. These resources are designed to complement your medication, not replace clinical advice. Educational resources are subject to availability and ongoing development and may be updated or withdrawn at any time without notice.
6.3 Nature of support
The patient support described in sections 6.1 and 6.2 is complimentary and supplementary to your prescription. It does not form part of your clinical treatment and attendance or engagement is not compulsory. Simplyweight makes no guarantee of the ongoing availability, frequency, or format of these resources.
- GP Notification
If you have given consent for us to contact your GP, we will send a notification letter each time a prescription is issued. This allows your GP to maintain an accurate health record, which is important for your overall safety and continuity of care.
If you have not given consent, you are responsible for informing your GP that you are taking this medication. We strongly recommend keeping your GP informed. If your GP does not have your latest health record, it may affect the safety and quality of the care you receive.
- No Guarantee of Results
There are no guarantees of weight loss with this medication. Results vary from person to person depending on individual factors including diet, lifestyle, adherence, and physiology. The absence of results does not constitute grounds for a refund or clinical complaint where the medication has been appropriately prescribed and dispensed.
- Consultations and Cancellation Policy
9.1 Clinical consultations
In some cases, before a prescription can be approved, you may be asked to attend a clinical consultation with one of our doctors. This may be required where a deeper assessment is needed to ensure the medication is safe and appropriate for you. You will be informed if this applies to you and a booking link or contact details will be provided.
9.2 Cancellation of a clinical consultation
If you need to cancel or reschedule a booked clinical consultation, the following cancellation terms apply:
More than 48 hours before the appointment: full refund of any consultation fee paid. Between 24 and 48 hours before the appointment: 50% refund of the consultation fee paid. Less than 24 hours before the appointment: no refund.
Please notify us of any cancellation as early as possible by contacting [email protected] or calling 0207 299 0388.
9.3 Cancellation of a medication order
Once the prescribing doctor has approved your consultation and your order has been placed with the pharmacy, your medication order cannot be cancelled. The no-refund policy in section 2.3 applies from this point. This is separate from the consultation cancellation terms above.
